Collection of photographs of the Newton Family taken during the 1920s. Three generations of the family lived at Nos. 136 and 138 Station Road, Old Hill, which were built around the 1820s.
Samuel Newton and his wife Florence lived in No. 138 with five of their eleven children, and Samuel's mother Emma, lived next door in No. 136. Emma Newton (known as Granny Newton) and her husband Thomas had occupied their cottage since 1887, and in fact the families moved between the two cottages for a number of years. A replica of the Station Road cottages has been built on the Museum site, and are a good example of typical Black Country worker's housing.
