Selection of photographs showing the constuction of the Thunderbolt. Built by Bean Industries Ltd., Tipton in 1937, it was shipped out to Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah at the end of August to be tested, catching the period when the salt flats would have a dry crust. It finally took the land speed record in 1938 at a speed of 357 mph.
