Multi award winning R&B singer Beverley Knight was born in Wolverhampton and began by singing in school and church choirs. Aged just 21, she achieved UK and international chart success in 1995 with her first single, "Flava of the Old School", followed by an acclaimed debut album, 'The B Funk', described by one critic as the "best British soul album ever". Future recordings will feature more of her own songs and promise "to push back the frontiers of UK soul and get the mainstream to reassess the definitions and limitations of a UK R&B artist".
