Tessa Sanderson

Olympic Javelin Champion in 1984 this daughter of Wolverhampton was actually born in the West Indies but regards the Black Country as her home having been brought up in here. She discovered the javelin at the age of twelve and went on to be the only British athlete to compete at five Olympic Games. She made 57 international appearances between 1974 and 1992 and was awarded the MBE in 1985.
