The Dudley Hangman

George Smith, The Dudley Executioner, a contemporary of W.M. Calcraft, the public executioner, who he assisted on many occasions (1829 - 1874). He died in Rowley, Easter, 1876. The 'Hangman's Tree' public house, Oakham Road, Tividale, is named after him.
