Ruskin Pottery

Ruskin Pottery formerly known as Birmingham Tile and Pottery Works, 173 - 174 Oldbury Road, Smethwick. They made tiles, teapots, biscuit barrels, cups, saucers, jugs and vases made from a coarse clay from Blakeley Hall Colliery. From 1904 the name Ruskin was used. Most of the pottery was exported. By the 1920s all Ruskin Pottery was thrown on the wheel and was a status symbol for the middle classes. It closed in 1933.
