The Pugh's were Smethwick Butcher's for 3 generations, the last one being Alfred Pugh. Originally based in Rolfe Street, they moved to High Street, Smethwick around 1910 - 1915. The photograph shows William Pugh his wife Polly and their staff outside the shop. Note all the sucklings pigs on display - probably it was done for Christmas.
