1903 SUNBEAM MOTOR CAR

MAIN CHARACTERISTICS:Four-cylinder engine; ?crash? gearbox with external gear-lever and centrifugal clutch, hand brake linked to bands on rear wheels; drip oil feed; three-speed gearbox; wooden wheels; magneto ignition. HISTORY:An important and historic vehicle ? one of only four existing from this year. This must have been a precursor to the Sunbeam Motor Car Company which was not founded until 1905.A sophisticated vehicle for its day, it was known to be very reliable when other car manufacturers were still experimenting.Thought to have had only four owners in its almost century of life ? with the previous owner (Joe Murcott of Sutton Coldfield) converting the body from two to four seats.VMCC dated and has appeared in numerous London to Brighton runs over the years.
