1924 GUY-MORRIS FIRE ENGINE

MAIN CHARACTERISTICS:4 cylinder engine, mushroom valves, 4-speed specially designed gearbox, polished brass radiator, blue planished steel bonnet with louvres, steel disc wheels with solid tyres, special springing, single dry-plate clutch, Solex carburettor, thermo-syphon cooling, separate clutch on top of gearbox to engage fire pump, magneto ignition, rear-wheel brakes. HISTORY:This specially designed chassis by Guy Motors, Wolverhampton, was bodied by John Morris & Sons Ltd of Salford Fire Engine Works, Manchester to provide a new light model fire engine suitable for small towns or private estates/factory sites.This particular vehicle has been in the ownership, inter alia, of Peter Black Ltd, Brittains Ltd, and Cheddleton Paper Mills, and the fact that it has spent much of its life in private (as opposed to municipal) ownership has been the main factor in the survival of this rare example of early Wolverhampton commercial engineering. No other surviving example of this date is known.
