1925 SUNBEAM ENGINE

MAIN CHARACTERISTICS:Special Desmodromic valves. HISTORY:An interesting and enigmatic example of Sunbeam engine design. This engine was repatriated from New Zealand (via Australia) where it had been cleverly and painstakingly restored at great cost by one (irascible!) Jack Philips ? a distant member of the Dutch industrial family. Was the original ?Desmodromic? feature Sunbeam or an ingenious later alteration ? who knows?!! Suffice it to say that this item is unique, has already prompted much discussion and is an excellent provocative exhibit. This vehicle to which this engine belonged still exists and was fitted with a replacement engine in 1956.
